Insurance Claims & Counseling

For contractors, insurance is a complex but critical component of risk management, one that can make or break a company. Our construction law attorneys regularly guide contractors through the complicated maze of insurance coverage and claims. We review existing insurance programs for gaps in coverage and pursue or defend insurance coverage claims through mediation, arbitration, and litigation.

Payment, Claim & Mechanics’ Lien Disputes

Sometimes the hardest part of a project is getting paid, especially final payments and the release of retainage. We regularly help contractors collect what they are owed. Our “toolbox” includes bonding off mechanics’ liens for general contractors and owners, handling public fund and payment bond claims, and working with our firm’s title company, MultiState, to perform title examinations and prepare/record mechanics’ liens.

Surety Bond Claims & Counseling

A sound surety bond program is often key to a contractor’s success, especially for those involved in public projects. Our team has extensive knowledge and years of experience in all aspects of suretyship. We work closely with leading surety bond agents to assist contractors in their surety programs. In particular, we prepare and review of indemnity agreements, handle bid, payment, and performance bonds, and represent sureties and contractors in default claims.
