Alex represents employers in private and public sector employment and labor relations matters. Alex’s practice focuses in large part on traditional labor representation. Alex has extensive experience representing clients in collective bargaining negotiations and defending employers in labor arbitrations. Alex also defends employers against unfair labor practice charges, and represents employers in union avoidance matters.
In addition to traditional labor, Alex represents employers in employment litigation, including proceedings before state and federal courts, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the Ohio Civil Rights Commission. He provides advice and training regarding employment law issues, including wage and hour law, the FMLA, employment discrimination, and other areas of employment law. Alex has substantial experience providing labor and employment advice to public sector clients.
Alex also has a significant practice in the area of school law. As a school lawyer, Alex provides general counsel for boards of education and administrators, including day-to-day guidance on all areas of legal compliance and governance, ethics laws, public records law, and drafting school board policies. In addition to personnel matters, Alex represents school clients in areas concerning student discipline, student privacy, and Constitutional matters (such as First Amendment, Free Exercise and Establishment Clause, and Illegal Searches and Seizures).
Alex graduated magna cum laude from Salmon P. Chase College of Law, where he also participated in Law Review and Moot Court Board. Prior to earning his J.D., he graduated summa cum laude from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in International Studies.
