Frost Brown Todd (FBT) is pleased to announce that Jason Williams, Louisville, has been chosen as a member of the 2015 Class of Fellows of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD). The landmark program established by the LCLD in 2011 trains and advances the next generation of leaders in the legal profession. Williams is a member at FBT and joins a select group of attorneys from diverse backgrounds, recognized as leaders in their organizations.

“I am honored to be selected as a member of the 2015 Class of Fellows of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity and excited to actively learn and participate during this year’s class,” says Williams. “A more open and diverse legal profession not only benefits the lawyers and other professionals that practice law, but creates the best possible work product and results for the clients we serve.”

Williams concentrates his practice in corporate law with an emphasis on franchise law and merger and acquisitions of public and private companies. He is the leader of FBT’s Franchise and Distribution Service Team and is actively involved in the American Bar Association’s Forum on Franchising. Williams was selected for inclusion in the 2013 and 2014 editions of Kentucky Rising Stars® by Super Lawyers®, a Thomson Reuters business. Rising Stars are selected based on excellence in the practice of law and is limited to no more than 2.5% of the attorneys within Kentucky.  Williams was also named a Top Lawyer in Louisville Magazine’s March 2014 issue and has previously been recognized by Louisville Business First as a member of the Top Forty Under 40 Class of 2012.  He serves the Louisville community through various initiatives, including serving as a member of the Lincoln Foundations Board of Trustee’s, which is a nationally recognized provider of educational enrichment programs for economically disadvantaged students. Williams received his law degree from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 2003 and graduated with a B.A. in economics from Yale University in 2000.

About the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD)

LCLD is a national organization made up of the general counsel and managing partners of leading corporations and law firms, working towards the goal of a more open, diverse and inclusive generation of legal professionals in the United States. Founded in 2009, the organization now has 220 corporate chief legal officers and law firm managing partners who are personally committed to creating a truly diverse legal profession.

The Fellows program, which has trained more than 600 attorneys since 2011, is an ambitious and highly structured initiative to increase diversity at the leadership levels of the nation’s law firms and corporate legal departments. It allows attorneys to build leadership skills and relationships that enhance their professional development. Over the course of the year-long program, participants are challenged to improve their professional brand, to participate in corporate learning experiences and to sharpen stewardship and leadership skills.  According to LCLD President Robert J. Grey, Jr., the LCLD Fellows Program offers participants “an extraordinarily rich year of relationship-building, virtual and in-person training, peer-group projects, and extensive contact with LCLD’s top leadership.”
