Frost Brown Todd is pleased to announce that Victoria E. Beckman has joined our Columbus office as a member in the firm’s Intellectual Property Law Practice Group and Privacy and Information Security Team. Beckman focuses her practice on privacy and information security, advising clients on compliance with state, federal, and international privacy laws and strategies for responding to data breaches and other data security incidents.
A native of Colombia, Beckman frequently assists U.S. companies in managing their operations and interests in Latin America, while helping foreign companies navigate the litigation process in the United States. In particular, she has experience litigating trademark infringement cases in the technology and construction sectors, data privacy claims in the banking and health sectors, and breach of contract disputes in the medical and industrial sectors. Beckman has also counseled clients in cases involving ransomware, supervised the transfer of data as an asset in the enforcement of judgements, and helped clients design processes to comply with the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
She is a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals, in addition to being frequent speaker on cybersecurity and data breach notification and response. In 2018, Beckman was named an “Ohio Rising Star” by Super Lawyers®; in 2017, she was listed among the Hispanic National Bar Association’s “Top Lawyers Under 40” and Columbus Business First’s “Forty under 40” honorees. Prior to practicing law, Victoria was an industrial engineer for a subsidiary of General Motors and a competitive figure skater.
