Bryan joined Frost Brown Todd in 2019 an associate in the firm’s Bankruptcy and Restructuring Group and has broad experience across all facets of bankruptcy practice, including commercial and consumer cases, and bankruptcy litigation. During his time at the firm, Bryan has represented debtors, creditors, trustees, and committees in large, complex chapter 11 cases, and consumer cases under chapter 7 and chapter 13. Bryan has represented clients in dozens of adversary proceedings for clients across the energy, insurance, and financial industries, among others.
Prior to joining the firm, Bryan served as the Career Law Clerk to the Honorable Charles M. Caldwell at the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Ohio. At the Bankruptcy Court, Bryan drafted dozens of judicial opinions in adversary proceedings and contested matters in cases small and large, and helped Judge Caldwell manage the Court’s significant chapter 13 docket.
Bryan leverages his experience in private practice and public service – across the entirety of the Bankruptcy Code – to advise clients with a comprehensive approach to legal strategy to maximize both client outcomes and the value of the legal work required to achieve those outcomes.
Bryan has led multiple investigations for clients in cases under subchapter v of chapter 11 of the Bankruptcy Code, where he has successfully investigated Debtors’ finances and recovered significant funds for our clients, including cases in Arizona and Maryland, and has had client legal fees reimbursed for showing substantial contribution to the bankruptcy estate. These cases have generally involved helping creditors recover value from individual Debtors’ personal guaranties of business debts, which is complicated even outside of bankruptcy.
Bryan has also represented a pharmaceutical company and a steel company in subchapter v cases as Debtor’s counsel, leading the cases to confirmation and successful distributions to creditors. These cases including selling assets, litigating claims, and prosecuting avoidance actions. Between his creditor work and debtor work, Bryan has developed expertise from every angle of subchapter v work.
Bryan has significant experience with preference and fraudulent transfers actions, inside and outside of bankruptcy. Bryan has settled hundreds of preference matters both in and out of court, and has litigated dozens of fraudulent transfer cases, some with eight-figure totals in dispute. He has both prosecuted and defended these actions, and has a deep understanding of how to litigate – and how to negotiate and settle – these matters.
The bulk of Bryan’s practice is in Kentucky, Ohio, and Michigan where he is licensed, but Bryan has served clients coast-to-coast, appearing or working on cases on behalf of clients in the following districts;
