Alex is a pragmatic counselor and litigator that brings a wide-range of experience to the service of his clients. Alex focuses on corporate litigation, with a particular emphasis on the defense of financial institutions. He represents banks, mortgage lenders, portfolio managers, loan servicers, and other creditors in state and federal courts and arbitration forums in a variety of consumer and commercial actions. Aside from his financial services work, Alex maintains a substantial general commercial litigation practice, representing clients in real estate litigation, oil and gas litigation, coal litigation, state governmental investigations, and a wide range of business disputes.
Through his wide-range of experience as a commercial litigator, Alex has developed an expertise in class action and mass action work. He has significant experience in successfully litigating class actions in state and federal court, in addition to matters before West Virginia’s Mass Litigation Panel and the Federal Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation.
Alex also has significant appellate experience and resulting successes. He regularly represents clients before the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia, the Intermediate Court of Appeals of West Virginia, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
