Our manufacturing client engaged our Product, Tort, and Insurance Litigation team to review over 200 expert witness deposition and trial transcripts. The goal was to identify inconsistencies and trends in testimonies from experts frequently called as adverse witnesses in product liability cases and to create a searchable database based on a review of the documents.
To enhance efficiency, the team collaborated with the Data and Innovation Department and utilized a generative AI tool, CoCounsel. This tool quickly located key information, such as deposition dates and design defect allegations, providing hyperlinks to original documents for attorney verification. It enabled the team to identify inconsistencies in expert testimony and prior experience with the device at issue, streamlining the review process without the need to manually read lengthy documents. The team then developed a user-friendly, client-facing database to catalog key findings for future analysis.
This innovative approach not only streamlined the review process but also enhanced the accuracy and reliability of the findings, demonstrating our firm’s commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technology to deliver exceptional client service. It allowed for efficient cross-referencing of excerpts with the document database as needed and enabled us to strategically apply findings to prepare for future examinations of expert witnesses.
