Former Kentucky State Treasurer Jonathan Miller will take the reins as Member-in-Charge of Frost Brown Todd’s (FBT) Lexington office on April 1. Miller succeeds Edward Receski, who has led the Lexington team since 2011 and continues to be a leader of the firm’s energy practice.
“Ed has done a terrific job leading our Lexington market efforts for the past five years and we are grateful for his contributions as Member-in-Charge. Jonathan is a great asset to the firm and is enthusiastic about taking on this important leadership position,” says FBT Chairman John Crockett.
Miller served two terms as State Treasurer (2000-2007), as state Democratic Party chair in 2007 and as Finance Cabinet Secretary under Gov. Beshear (2007-2011). Although no longer directly involved in politics, Miller leads teams of lawyers, lobbyists and economic development specialists in assisting clients as they navigate complex local, state and federal government institutions through counsel on legal, public policy, political and public relations matters. Miller also helps clients develop and execute public-private partnerships, and manage complex organizational crises. As a Principal of CivicPoint, FBT’s public affairs subsidiary, he leads the firm’s government relations practice in Kentucky.
“I’m thrilled to take on this exciting and challenging new role. I joined Frost Brown Todd because of the outstanding team of attorneys and its reputation as a strong and passionate voice and advocate for clients throughout the region. I look forward to help build on the firm’s foundation as a civic leader in Lexington, and expanding on efforts of our attorneys and professionals to play a growing role in the critical community affairs of my beloved hometown,” says Miller.
Miller has authored several books and has appeared on dozens of national news talk shows. He currently serves as a regular contributor for the national political journal The Daily Beast and the college sport site Kentucky Sports Radio. Miller earned both his undergraduate degree and law degree with high honors at Harvard. He joined FBT in April of 2011.
